We, the undersigned organizations, are deeply concerned about the rise of antisemitism in the U.S. and around the globe. Verbal attacks against Jews are becoming more common in media, online, on school campuses, and even among elected officials, while physical assaults and vandalism are increasingly taking place in public spaces and places of worship. Antisemitic rhetoric, which would have been widely rejected and condemned in the past, is now tolerated and even imitated. While many good people of all backgrounds across the political spectrum stand with the Jewish people, others exploit the fight against antisemitism to attack their political opponents and deepen divisions. 

 

Let there be no mistake: antisemitism is not a matter of differing political opinions. It is blatant bigotry against Jews--because of their Jewish identity. This hate is spread through lies, half-truths, and misinformation, including conspiracy theories that blame Jews for the ills of society. While antisemitic messages are false, they are clear, simple, and often repeated, allowing them to gain a foothold in mainstream culture.  

 

We have therefore come together to express with one voice that antisemitism must not be tolerated in our society. We condemn all attacks against Jewish identity, whether religious, ethnic, cultural, or otherwise. We will not stand idly by while the Jewish people are targeted, marginalized, demonized, and harmed based on any aspect of their identity, which, for most Jews, includes their connection to the one Jewish country in the world, Israel. Instead, we unite to expose and fight antisemitism in all its forms, whenever and wherever it occurs.

 

We invite all others of good conscience to join us in this statement of moral clarity and stand with the Jewish people in the face of hate.
